Believe you can! You have to have the mental attitude for success. You have to believe you are capable of achieving anything. A strong belief system seems like a given, but few people possess it. Many sales people look at their job as the money they can make, instead of the money they can earn. Believing that you’re the best and believing that you’re capable of achievement is the most difficult thing to do. It requires daily dedication, determination, and positive self-talk to do it. How much do you believe in you?
Create the right environment! It’s so important to surround yourself with people who encourage you. Hang around positive, successful people who will make your road to success a smooth ride. Expose yourself to change. It’s important to be learning every day. New information is extremely important to success (unless you are like most salespeople who already know everything- lucky you).
Plan for the day! Always have a game plan. Plan on which businesses that you need to see, look up businesses, and research the town.
Have the answers! The better you are at solving problems and handling objections the easier path you will have to sales success. In order to have the answers you must have superior knowledge about what you do-and explain it in terms of how the prospect uses what you do! If you don’t know the answers, make sure you put in the extra time to find them out.
Take responsibility! It is easy to blame someone or something else for problems, whether it is the town, your car, or your dog. Blaming other things is a complete waste of time. Take responsibility for your actions and decisions. The people who are most successful in this world take responsibility for everything they do and everything that happens to them.
Take action! Nothing is going to happen for you until you do something to make it happen. So take action- it’s up to you to determine how successful you are.
Stay focused! Be focused on your goals and dreams and they will become reality. You can do anything you put your mind to. Too often salespeople allow personal issues to overtake the time they should be selling. By managing your personal issues in a way that keeps you from getting distracted during the day, you will stay focused and accomplish your goals.
Ignore rude people! In sales there will always be rude people; don’t let these people ruin your day. Just ignore them. Remember everyone has bad days. You may have just caught a person at the wrong time; don’t take it personally.
Don’t give up! Why do most people fail? The answer is they quit too soon. Make sure that isn’t you; make a plan and stay committed to it.
Have Fun! Feel free to joke around some with your customers. Be light hearted and enjoy yourself. The more relaxed you are the more relaxed your customers will be.
